Due to the recent events that have happened over the last couple of months, my blogging has taken the backseat. However, I have some really exciting updates! For those of you that have been following since the beginning, you know that after our infertility diagnosis, we dove into fertility treatments and found ourselves facing unsuccessful outcomes and heartbreak for nearly 3 years. With the desire burning brightly in our hearts to become parents, we finally feel a sense of peace. WE ARE ADOPTING! In typical Maddie and Augie fashion, we have hit the ground running. Over the past 5 months we have sold t shirts, created a puzzle fundraiser, had an overwhelmingly successful Adoption Fundraiser Garage Sale, completed our Home Study, and have committed to working with On Point Legal and their consulting program.
Since the beginning I have always knew I wanted to share our story in hopes it would help other couples who are walking the same journey. I have been fully committed to being honest about the good, bad, and the ugly truths of infertility. Being that we were at our financial cap after fertility treatments, were hesitant to dive right into adoption. After reaching out to other couples who have gone through the same thing, we decided to take a chance and begin efforts to fundraise. After publicly announcing our adoption, we were met with an overwhelmingly amount of support. We have received so much love and prayers from people from all over. Our family has truly been a blessing in providing countless efforts to help us raise the funds. We began with a Puzzle Piece Fundraiser and T Shirt Fundraiser that allowed us to start our Home Study. We had a pleasant experience going through our Home Study process. It took us a little under 3 months to complete and I wouldn’t change anything about it. After that, we started the planning for the Adoption Fundraiser Garage Sale. Family, friends, and people of the community came out show their support. It was truly a humbling and inspiring experience.
After much deliberation, we decided to change our original plan in going with an out of state agency. We have gone through such an evolution throughout this process and have embraced it wholeheartedly. After lots of conference calls, emails, and researching we have decided to commit to On Point Legal in Baton Rouge and are benefiting greatly from their consulting program. Because of the tremendous success of the Adoption Fundraiser Garage Sale, we are able to fully commit to their program. We can actively work alongside of their team during every step and are able to meet in person with our consultant weekly. We will keep our Facebook page active throughout the process and are so excited to take you all with us through this new, exciting process that brings us one step closer to #bringinghomebabygonzales.
We have grown as individuals and as a couple over the past 3 years and I honestly think it has made us stronger. We knew adoption wouldn’t be an easy process, but we knew it would be rewarding. So far, Augie and I have felt nothing but peace and comfort. This was His plan all along and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.
